They might have been faced with the worst retail performance in decade, but it hasn’t phased Australian designers one bit. The Aussie fashion houses are just as keen as ever to expand on their read-to-wear collections, in a bid to re-boost popularity and get things back on track. During the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, which took place in Sydney, Australia on 30th April, Camilla Franks used it as an opportunity to present her spring/summer collections, which included fresh lines of men’s and children’s wear, as well as home wears and a ready-to-wear collection. She used it as a statement, to suggest that the poor sales by no means, are influencing her to take a step back.

Camilla has responded by changes in the market – whereby peers may have lowered the prices, in order to accommodate for the poor sales by pricing items more affordably – by sticking to her guns and giving a true reflection of what the people want, whether or not they’re able to afford the high costs. She follows up her signature resort wear line, entitled Beachhouse. Many may recognise the name as it was stocked by the likes of http://www.harveynichols.com, Harrods and Bergdorf Goodman and gained a sizeable following in the process. Staying true to her plans in 2011, she insists that keeping the quality of her garments at their high standard (thus maintaining the prices at their usual rates) is the way forward.

Camilla Franks mentioned: “Overseas, ready-to-wear collections are hugely celebrated, and I wanted to showcase mine to Australia,” which wouldn’t be achieved if she chose to follow the lead of her contemporaries. She wants to uphold the expectations of her fans, who have grown to fall for her designs – rich in embellishments peacock prints and bright hues. That said, if you were worried about the future of Australian fashion and were under the impression that it was the beginning of the end for the luxury brands. As well as Camila Franks and her new Gypset collection, Melbourne’s bespoke Marianna Hardwich is to launch a new ready-to-wear collection at Sydney’s Mercedes Denz Fashion Week.

The British anti-doping agency has begun its campaign to drug test international athletes in preparation for the London 2012 Olympic Games. At any time between now and the start of the event, the participants are able to be tested without any prior warning. The information regarding this development was obtained from the international sports federations and national anti-doping organisations, which will target any Olympics-destined athletes, who are currently in Britain conducting preliminary training. This will affect teams such as Singapore’s and USA’s, who will be based at the University of East London’s campus beforehand, as well as many other teams, who are based throughout the country.

On the matter, the British Olympics minister, Hugh Robertson, commented, stating: “We are doing all we can to ensure that there is no place to hide for drug cheats in this country. Information sharing across borders and a strong testing program will help in this fight.” Related to this, Britain has urged the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) to introduce 4-year bans on athletes who attempt to cheat the system. Currently, there is a mandatory 4-year ban in place, but it usually isn’t enforced; leading to athletes returning to action within two years of being issued a ban from competing.

The British Olympic Association mentioned that: “Too often WADA has failed to catch the serious doping cheats — which, to its credit, WADA acknowledges… Too often it is the law enforcement officers from individual countries who have led the war on doping in sport. Now may be the time to consider at a more fundamental level the role, structure and function of WADA as a centralized body.”

A new approach is being considered for the 2012 Olympics as the BOA is the only Olympic body which is known to impose lifetime bans for dopers, which goes against the stance of their peers. However, they still feel that other bodies need to consider bringing in longer bans for those who choose to go against the strict guidelines. The BOA went on to close, stating: “Too many athletes are treated, and feel, as if they are guilty before being proved innocent; yet often they are in the vanguard of the fight against cheating in sport”.

The Money Shop – are they reliable? Wonga – does it hide charges? iDosh – ethical lender? They’re sorts of questions which regularly get posed, since payday loans companies have emerged. It’s not a question of whether they actually do their job, but whether they’re right for lending out money to the right people. After all, with the “quick and easy” application forms and upfront appearance, it would be easy to assume that they’re missing something out somewhere. Some people question whether any of them are actually all that legit at all and whether they’re just there to prey on vulnerable people. This will answer all your questions and make sure you don’t fall for any traps.

The intentions with all payday lending firms is to offer what the usual loans companies don’t. Long gone are the days when it was the norm for customers to be tied down to lengthy repayment plans, which can last for months or years, as they attempt to repay minute slices of a loan which they didn’t really need all of the money for. For those people who just need a little helping hand in getting from one month to the next, rather than a large lump sum of money to sort out lots of sizable money worries in their life, it offers the ideal way to iron out any issues you have. It won’t linger over everything you do for the foreseeable future. It won’t take a hunk of your monthly pay packet away from you time after time. Their idea is that you request the money and they’ll supply it, as long as you promise to return it all (with interest) when you next get paid.

It can be a bit of a mine field searching through all the payday lenders, our advice is to thoroughly do your research online and check for what other customers say about whichever provider you are looking to use. http://idosh.com is definitely worthwhile looking into, they’re new to the market but bring a refreshing ethical approach.

As with many emerging industries, there’s always a small proportion who attempt to abuse the system and stretch it to its limit, to try to generate as much profit as possible, but as long as you still to the well-known companies, who’ve got a proven track record and a history of satisfied customers, there’s very little to worry about. If you feel as though you’re in the position to handle your money responsibly, after being lent it by such a company, just ensure that you know how high the interest rates are, and you’ve got nothing else to worry about.

In February 2012, Fabio Capello stepped down from his role of the England manager. It was triggered by John Terry’s captaincy choice being taken out of his hands, and meant that a change was due to hit the national team. It was a move that caused the country to rush into appointing Harry Redknapp into that coveted position, as a ‘People’s Choice’ for a replacement. However, as as Harry – currently acting as manager to Tottenham Hotspur – didn’t want to take on that responsibility. That said, the FA were reported to have approached, West Bromwich Albion’s manager, Roy Hodgson and announced his unveiling as the new England manager within days. So how does this change things for English football? What can we expect of him? What does he bring to the table? Is he even right for the job?

As far as what sceptics of Sven-Goren Eriksson and Fabio Capello have had to say about past picks, Roy Hodgson primarily scores points with them for being an English England manager. To supporters, it’s easy to see why it would change the perception of the manager and why they may have more faith in what he wants to bring to the table. A downside to Hodgson, however, is that as he’s also currently occupying that role for West Bromwich Albion, his other commitments may impact on his ability to carry out each of his job to the best of his ability. As far as international experience goes, Roy Hodgson seems like an ideal choice. He might not have the same level of success behind him, but as the person responsible for getting Switzerland to their first World Cup in 24 years, back in 1994, he knows a thing or two about turning potential into substance.

While one of the issues people may have with Hodgson’s signing is that he had a bad 6-month stretch at Liverpool, to see other examples of the way he turned teams around, look to his achievements with Fulham and his current venture with West Brom. Regardless of what people think of Roy Hodgson’s abilities, Roy has signed a 4-year contract to manage England, which will see him through the Euro 2012 and the upcoming World Cup, in 2014.
